Gorgeous floppy wool pile with wool construction so definitely get a custom cut pad to add some wonderful body to this piece I recommend that for all pieces that are 100% pure organic wool construction. This piece been antique washed to offer a timeless Nomadic pattern in a more suitable color palette for more understated spaces. Feel free to inquire to learn more about antique washing if you'd like to learn more. I strictly source from people that know how to do it without harming the rug or the fibers.
About: Look up a the moon one a dark midnight evening - THAT is the color of this piece; the craters, shadows and depth the moon has - this piece has it all too, except this piece has that character from each knot having it's own personality and identity. I feel that each knot has a subtle warmth to it, almost like the moon is blushing as some red blood cells rush to the face. So much depth in this piece even for a softer palette. This piece is absolutely all-encompassing for someone that wants an elevated feel YET still wants a genuinely old piece that still has the character and depth that ONLY an old piece can offer. I typically bring these in for my designers as they like to work with softer palettes in specific spaces where it calls for something more understated - but II'm not only picky about the muted pieces I bring in, I love color myself - however I do believe not all spaces need to be a fireworks for the eyes, sometimes you do want a more serene and soothing space to recharge and make you feel like you're lifted instead of anchored - so when I come across specific softer pieces that still meet my requirements for story-filled and character-rich antique or vintage pieces - I'm seduced myself and this is a perfect example. This design of course is the Elephant track rug inspired by the Silk Road, and next to the Elephants you see the Butterfly motif fluttering with - reminding us that David and Goliath can exist together, and in harmony at that. The Power and Strength of a Majestic Elephant walks with an equally beautiful and Graceful Butterfly really capturing what we mean by Yin and Yang.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available.
Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
