Name: OUTSTANDING Caucasian Kuba | Watermelon, Seafoam, Tangerine, Rose, Amber, Indigo

Size: 4.4 x 6

Age: Antique, C. 1920-30's

Pile: Low even pile with age-related patina.  Wonderful character-piece with ancient touch-ups, some re-woven areas, and repairs that are well done. Some subtle color-run as is typical with these first quarter of the 20th century Caucasian pieces due to one or two of the specific dyes as they experimented with new colors etc. Overall, a really spectacular piece that will bring you joy each time you look at it.

About: Just take a good look at this STUNNER! Even for the seasoned rug collector, this piece has to stand out with incredible composition and charming village life woven throughout. Incredible color palette that has been laid out and composed by master weavers that are true artists.  Large "shield" medallions with a smaller center medallion almost holding them together.  This imbalance yet symmetrical feel pushes and pulls on our love of familiar and comfort but also teases our desires to explore and craze the unique and unusual! Tons of nomadic devices and motifs woven throughout as fillers; village life at its best is clearly laid out for us to drink up with our eyes; animals, stars, trees, shrubs, pinwheels, diamonds, ram horns, arrows, palmettes, and more - you name it and you'll find it in here.  The weave is so fine and this is why we get such a crisp design and to ability to enjoy the motifs as if they were drawn by hand.  Hats off the weaver(s) as she or they spent extra time making this a true WONDER to look at.  Every square inch is different, and that's when you know it was freestyle weaving right at the loom - what more do you want inn a collectable antique?!!?

This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available.

Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.

Any questions about this rug? Don't hesitate to reach out!

We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.

A note from us to you: Buying a rug is special; it's not just you finding the rug, but also the rug finding you. Think about the many coincidences that have to occur for you to find the rug of your dreams. Our rugs are woven by nomads in the villages and remote mountainous regions of the major rug weaving districts across the world. All of our rugs are genuinely old and one-of-a-kind. Like anything old and unique, they are filled with character, soul, and story. The story of a rug is something we think about a lot; who was the weaver(s)? Did they weave it for personal use, commerce, to gift, or trade? Who was the second owner, and the third!? Sometimes the little motifs and symbols in rugs can help tell the story, but we will never truly know - there's something beautiful about that. Alas, our joy is to curate these incredible pieces that speak to us, and to pass them along to their new owners to be enjoyed and cherished for many years to come; both continuing to add to the story of the rug, and to the story of the new owners.
